This is a series of shoes created combining a used American football cleat and a high heel. These shoes vary in size from women's size 7, to women's size 15. These shoes are made to be worn by any person with any gender identification. As a woman athlete there are many different expectations society has made for my performance and identity. These pieces are intended to blur the lines of gender and create a critical approach to how athletic brands treat gender. The repetition in the piece is to speak to the repetition of the expectations of me as a woman I have heard all of my life. These pieces push the viewer to consider how their identity is represented in the world and how they work to pull away from the unrealistic expectations and move towards a place where they are able to be themselves.
